a pre stuffed, cook from frozen butterball turkey

realized TOO late that the total weight included the stuffing....a small bird with tons of stuffing!
Next time I will buy a bird and the butterball frozen stuffing separately.  FOOD  SAFE. Peel plastic from the the bird into the pan.  It is not recommended to rinse the bird and spray salmonella into the sink

I put parchment into the bottom for easier clean up.  Juice from the bird does not burn away.

using frozen pie crust - pumpkin pie. Pie filling under 2012 post (October)

posting the finished product first.  I  cut shapes out of the second pie crust.

I have mini-fall cookie cutters. I used an IKEA cake doily to roll the pastry on.

baked shapes on a foil pan beside the pie

used a glass - I did not have a rolling pin available.

Rhubarb strawberry crisp - use equal amounts of oatmeal. flour. brown sugar, butter and mix it well.

Left over frozen rhubarb and frozen strawberries: I thicken using sugar and cornstarch OR sugar and tapioca. Recipe in and older post for fruit crisp.

For a small square I used 1/2 cup or 125 ml of oatmeal, brown sugar, flour and butter

Pat down lightly.....

Fresh pastry rounds: from the refrigeration section of a grocery store

pre rolled pastry for a 9" pie plate; found with biscuits in a tube.

2 pieces - top and bottom or one open face pie

I like a  glass pan, better browning of bottom crust.

Mrs Wakely's recipe for apple pie filling. Canned would work.

I piled the apples higher in the center

Top layer on

Following the package directions, I tucked the pastry together and crimped the edge. Cream on the top, and a sprinkle of sugar. Air vents are important!

Looks good.....I still prefer my homemade pastry, made from lard.
