Chocolate fondue... Happy New Year!

Toblerone chocolate and Eagle brand milk; a match made in heaven.  Yep, I googled the recipe.  Did I mention the fresh fruit?

shortbread - so may recipes

Allrecipes.com again!  My only change to this butter, icing sugar, flour combo - I added the seeds from 3 vanilla beans and rolled the 'log' in Christmas coloured sugar.  The staggered placement of the uncooked dough allows for even cooking.  Have you noticed I love parchment paper?

Stuffed mushroom appy

Looked at allrecipes.com for ideas.  I  used a recipe listing cream cheese ( no bread crumbs) adding cooked, cooled ground sausage meat for added flavour and texture.

maple salmon

Tried out a new recipe from allrecipes.com.  I did not have maple syrup so added mapleline to pancake syrup - excellent flavour !

all things gingerbread

The aprons were made from Ikea tea towels I purchased a year ago; I like to sew!
Many talents emerged during the gingerbread cookie lab today.  The royal icing was flowing!  A creative group dealt with a their broken cookies. An original snowman and a character from SHREK made an appearance.

Chef from the Art Institute

The mexican rice recipe was demonstrated in class by the Chef from the Arts Institute in Vancouver.  He travels BC schools for the Culinary program showing knife skills, time management and everything in place!  "Never trust a skinny Chef"

peanut brittle tips

Brittle means Christmas!  You can use your favourite nut or leave them out for sea foam (middle of the crunchie bar). Do the cold water test before adding baking soda - the syrup thread should crunch like a sucker and not stick to your teeth.  I use a heaping 5 mL of soda, sifted and barely stir; nice and fluffy.

another day, another recipe.  To mix things up we tried pastry filled with ground beef and vegetables.  I frequently use allrecipes.com/videos to show preparation and the finished products.  An excellent reliable resource.
